Mad at God? Good! That's Exactly What He Wants. Here's Why...
I gave my life to Jesus when I was 19 years old. I was sitting at my mom’s kitchen table, the same table where all the real ministry happened in our house growing up. And after I prayed, she looked at me and said something I’ve never forgotten.
She said, “Jeremy, all your friends, they want to know if it’s true. And they want you to succeed and know it’s true. But they’re waiting for you to come back.”
They were waiting for me to fail. Waiting for me to give up and slide back into the old life. I carried that weight for a long time. Every time I stumbled, I heard that voice saying, “See? They knew you wouldn’t make it.”
Most of us treat our mistakes like permanent ink on a clean sheet of paper. We think if we didn’t get a perfect start, we’ve already disqualified ourselves from the race. But God isn’t intimidated by how many times you’ve had to start over.
The Joy of the Reset
God isn’t just faithful to see you through to the end. He actually rejoices just to see the work begin. Kingdom life doesn’t compute with worldly logic. In the world, if you fail the first time, you’re a liability. In the Kingdom, a reset isn’t a sign of failure. It’s a sign of life.
Zechariah 4:10 tells us not to despise the day of small beginnings. God isn’t trying to salvage something out of the wreckage of your life. He’s building something brand new.
The Architect of the Again
You might be sitting there thinking you’ve made too many poor choices to ever get a clean slate. I understand that grit and work ethic are high values in our corner of the Ozarks. But you cannot out-work a need for grace. For families here in Carter County, a new beginning isn’t a fantasy. It’s a promise.
God is the God of the “Again.” Whether it’s a relationship, a career, or your walk with Him, He’s ready to drive a stake in the ground and start fresh right now. He is faithful to finish what He started in you. But first, He just wants to see you take that first step back toward Him.
Hit the Reset
Mission This Week: Identify one area of your life where you’ve been afraid to start over because you’re embarrassed by the first attempt. Declare out loud that today is a reset. Stop looking at the finish line and just give God your “Yes” for the beginning.
